At 2005, Bedford Communications alerted the following companies for a grease fire in the kitchen of a residence located at 2040 Pike Road: Co.9 (Montvale) first due, Co.19 (Shady Grove) second due, and Co.1 (Bedford) as RIT. Chief 9 (Hawkins), quickly arrived to find a 1 story residence with heavy fire showing from the "Alpha" side and made it a working fire. With a delayed response from 2nd due (Co. 19), Co. 1 was upgraded to second due which added Rescue 13 to the RIT assignment. R-13 (w/5) arrived well into the incident and assisted units on scene with RIT and an extensive overhaul. After overhaul was complete, Command returned R-13 and R-1 to service at 2142.
